Armenian woman chess player Elina Danielyan has been invited by FIDE President Kirsan Iliumzhinov to take part in the first FIDE women's "Grand Prix" play-offs to be held on March 5 in Istanbul.
Equal opportunities
The super chess competition will restart in Linares today after a one-day interval. In the 5th round Levon Aronyan will face-off against his Chinese counterpart Vang Yu. International bookmakers gave equal opportunities for the opponents. They have set a 4.7 coefficient for both Levon Aronyan and Vang Yu. There is a higher chance of a 1.50 coefficient, that is, a 0-0 match. After the 4th round Aronyan and Grishchuk head the table with three points respectively. Grishchuk will play with the white figures with his Norwegian counterpart Magnus Carlson in this round.
Third place
The international chess competition being held in the Iranian city of Rasht is over. Armenian chess player Gevorg Harutyunyan also took part in the competition and scored six points out of the possible nine and won 3rd place. Azeri Azer Mirzoyev scored seven points and was acknowledged winner among the 44 participants.
