March 1 at the Theater of Opera and Ballet

Social

Artists are more sensitive and one of our most painful issues was the events of March 1", told "A1+" general director of the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet Kamo Hovhannisyan. He recalls what kind of impact the movement and the rallies had on musicians.

"The events of March 1 had and still have an impact on all of us. We were in contact with all of the people. We moved through the crowds on our way to work. Musicians used to come to rehearsals moving through the crowds of policemen," said Hovhannisyan.

Kamo Hovhannisyan takes note of the fact that the internal political tension has an impact on the regular activities of the theatre and it's not only the rallies, but also the music heard in the nearby cafes.

Georgian culture days will be held in Yerevan on March 1-6. The Georgians will present two ballet performances in the opera theatre.

"Georgian ballet has reached great heights during the past two years," says Kamo Hovhannisyan and adds that there was absolutely no ballet in Georgia ten years ago.
