We decided to join the opposition's marches and protests because we realized that these authorities don't want to do anything. They lie to the people and get rich by stealing from them," told "A1+" head of the "Defense of Property Rights" NGO Vachagan Hakobyan who was one of the participants of the protest held today near the Government building.

Once again, law-enforcement officers prohibited the residents of the Northern and Main avenues from holding a protest in front of the Government building and protesters stood across the street yelling and whistling.

Former resident of Lalayants Street Mariam Gasparyan said that Mayor Yervand Zakharyan had announced on television that he had paid the residents 1,000 dollars worth of compensation for a square meter, when in reality Gasparyan had partially received 420 dollars as compensation.

With regard to the upcoming mayor elections in Yerevan, protesters said that they are not only against the elections, but will do everything they can to bring Yervand Zakharyan to justice for his crimes in case he is re-elected.

"How can we elect him? He robbed the entire city and remains unpunished," said Vachagan Hakobyan.
