Armenian grandmasters Levon Aronian and Vladimir Akobian won victories over their Ukrainian competitors in the sixth round of the FIDE Grand Prix chess tournament 2009.
GM Levon Aronian outplayed Vassili Ivanchuk. Generally, the games between the two grandmasters turn out to be effective, and Ivanchuk is among unique chess players who enjoy privileges over Aronian. But this time Aronian beat his contender taking the lead with four points.
Vladimir Akobian beat another Ukrainian GM, Sergey Karyakin who had won over Levon Aronian in the third round. Akobian is the ninth on the tournament list.
