16.3% fall
Despite the 0.9% rise in the service sector compared to the same period last year, 2.6% increase in construction compared to last month and no change in small trade, Armenia's economy has gone down again in the past semester.
The economy went down by 16.3% from January-June compared to the same period last year. The GDP was 1119.3 million drams. Today the National Statistics Service released the macroeconomic ratings for Armenia's social-economic situation.
The biggest fall was registered in construction with 53.5%. Industry went down by 11.5% and agriculture by 2.5%.
The circulation of foreign products in January-June 2009 made up 1.6 billion dollars and went down by 31.5% compared to the same period last year. Imports reduced by 27.5 and exports went down by 45.9%.
The official level of unemployment rose by 10.3% on an annual basis and makes up 84.1 thousand people.
Let us remind that the economic downfall was 15.7% in January-May.
