Emergency regime for florists
Flower prices skyrocketed on August 31 and on the morning of September 1 at flower shops and trade spots around Yerevan and the reason, of course, was the new academic school year.
Flower prices more than doubled overnight, although most of the flowers were already resold on August 31 for 30-50 drams more," one flower shop worker told "A1+".
September 1 is the best occasion for florists to earn, as they saw, a little money.
"We did shopping until late night on August 31 and we came early in the morning today to sell flowers," said florists at another trade spot.
According to florists, they buy products early in the morning from the wholesale flower market near the "Dinamo" stadium. The main buyers are retailers who sell the flowers for the high price of 30-100 drams to flower shops.
For instance, on August 31 and September 1, the average flower sold for 30 drams was sold for 60 drams, the 50 drams flower was sold for 80 and the 100 for 150. Some flower shops and trade spots sold more bouquets and the minimum price was 3,000 drams. According to parents, the bouquet is beautiful, even if it is expensive.
"What can we do? We have to buy flowers. We can't let the children go to school without flowers. Of course, they are expensive, but for instance, I bought a couple of roses and arranged them at home," said parent Nune Avetisyan.
Florists say that the next "fortunate" day will be the day of Surp Khach.
