Police have been seeking law-breaking pedestrians since early this morning. They will be warned to cross the street from the corresponding site for the first couple of days and will then be fined 3,000 drams for not doing so starting October 5.

"It will be very difficult in the beginning for us and the pedestrians. But everyone will gradually learn to cross the streets correctly, just like they learned to fasten their seatbelts," said road police officer Karen Nersisyan.

Although he noticed a small number of pedestrians violating the law, there were a large number of youth at the universities who crossed the streets from the wrong place.

Many didn't know about the law, the place to cross and some avoided going under the subway to cross the street, saying that it was smelly and dirty.

Some violators either used the subway or continued the way they were going, or simply got frustrated over the policemen who were "disturbing" them.

Let us remind that starting today, minibus drivers and passengers sitting in the front are obliged to fasten their seatbelts.
