The swine flu had nearly no impact on pork sales in Yerevan. Meat prices have gone neither up nor down.

As the butchers at the back of the "Gum" market told "A1+", the global economic crisis has hurt meat sales even more.

"People were scared in the beginning, but not now. We don't sell a lot-nearly 35-40 kilograms a day."

Let us remind that the price for a kilogram of pork ranges from 2,000-2,500 drams.

Butcher Artur says that the swine flu has caused sales to go down a little. "People think that they can get infected by pork. But there is no such thing. They are simply scared and don't buy it."

Butchers say that last year around this time, there were people who used to buy pork for New Year's, but there is nobody yet. Butchers advise to buy the meat in advance because prices will keep going up as the holidays draw nearer.
