Church status will not change
President of the Supreme Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anatoli Gritsenko had a telephone conversation with His Holiness, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Kareikin II after the latter's notice regarding the Surp Khach Church of Crimea.
The president of the Supreme Rada assured the Supreme Patriarch that there would be no change in the status of the Surp Khach Church of Crimea. The Surp Khach Church will continue to remain under the authority of the Armenian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Ukraine as a structure of spiritual and ecclesiastical significance.
Father, Friar Hayrik Hovhannisyan has already been called to religious service at the Armenian Diocese of Ukraine under authority of the Supreme Patriarch. Hovhannnisyan will bring his service under the authority of the leader of the diocese as vicar of the diocese of Crimea and abbot of the Surp Khach monastery.
