"SOS: Give us the subsidies of our orphans, Armenian Airlines Yak 40", "How long can we fight for the solution to our problem?"-these were the signs held by the wives and parents of the 5 pilots who died in the Islamic Republic of Iran on May 17, 2001. They had gathered to protest in front of the government building today.

According to them, "Armenian Airlines" is obliged to pay the pilots' 10-year salaries to the relatives of the victims. But they have not received anything for the past 23 months. During these months, they have appealed to officials, but no response.

According to Susanna Grigoryan, widow of a deceased pilot, they are writing letters to Serzh Sargsyan and Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, but their letters are being sent to the Civil Aviation and the responses to those letters are not satisfying.

In 2004 "Armenians Airlines" filed for bankruptcy and paid back part of the loans at the account of the sums received from sale of items, but the company has not paid any amount to the relatives since February 2007.

The activists say that they have several questions and no replies. They ask how long they have to ask for loans to survive and when their issue will finally be resolved.
Let us mention that during last week's demonstration, a police officer had approached the participants and had told them to appeal to the Civil Aviation and if they didn't receive satisfying responses, then the Prime Minister could meet with them. The activists said that they definitely wanted to meet with the Prime Minister, but today's government session was in Armavir.
