Manure instead of gas?
Today's guests at the Hayeli Club, Bagrat Asatryan, ex-President of the Central Bank, and Vardan Bostanjyan, deputy of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), debated over the upcoming increase in gas price.
Bagrat Asatryan claimed that gas price is going down in Europe ($200 for 1000 cubic meter of gas) while in Armenia we witness the reverse scenario. If the proposal is granted, Armenians will have to pay 136000 AMD per 1000 cubic meter of gas instead of former 96000 AMD. The Russian Company [ArmRusGasArd] enjoying privileges in Armenia resells gas to our people at a high price. I think that the authorities must address the problem otherwise they are to blame for robbing Armenian people," announced Mr. Asatryan.
His opponent Vardan Bostanjyan said: "Armenians seem to have become excited at the thought of gas price increase and suddenly everyone decided to heat their homes with gas. Go to your villages and burn manure to heat you houses. I don't say all this to justify the rise in price. As an Armenian I am glad that, unlike many countries, we are able to receive gas. Secondly, I wonder how this complicated system functions flawlessly in Armenia as many European countries today face gas problems."
