"The sharp rise of gas prices will cause a serious blow to the country's economy and to each consumer," as stated in the statement issued by the Republican Board of the Armenian Liberal (Ramkavar) Party.

"Field experts say that gas prices in Armenia will still be lower than global prices and more suitable for consumers, but that is not reasonable at all," say authors of the statement. "Armenians have lower incomes than people in developed countries. Thus, the gas inflation will lead to a chain of inflations in other spheres of vital significance as well."

The ALRP also evaluates the poor quality of services as a manifestation of lack of punctuality and cynicism, which is seen in services for gas, connection, water, electricity, transport and fuel."

"The "national" government is to blame for all that. Instead of giving lectures and telling fairy-tales, the right thing for the government to do would be to firmly control the country, present an urgent legislative initiative on high profits and ratify that law at the National Assembly with its coalition partners," as stated in the statement.

The Republican Board of the ALRP views the increase of gas prices as a means to exert pressure on the Republic of Armenia to make concessions in certain processes relating to foreign policy, which is not in the interests of Armenians around the globe.

"Thus, we demand the RA President and his political allies to view the issue of raising gas prices from the angle of national security and do everything possible to avoid inflation of products and provided services," as stated in the statement.
