Cabmen protest against each other
If earlier cabmen protested against taxi services today they are protesting against each other.
Three-four cabmen, representatives of Driver and Policeman NGO, today demanded that the Armenian government levy the same tax on them as is the case with other cabmen.
"We have nothing against them. They are our friends but the government does not provide equal footing for all cabmen," said the NGO Chairman Gevorg Dosturyan.
The protesters say they have executed the government's demand, bought new cars on a long-term loan and acquired taxi accessories (taximeters, headlights, license plates, etc) but cars with white license plates enjoy privileges today and pay no taxes.
The cabmen have addressed a letter to the RA President with a request to be freed from some taxes including the annual 25 000 payment for licenses.
"We call for equality. Everyone should pay equal taxes. Others take 2000 drams net income a day but the sum is not enough for me to pay taxes," complained cabman Khosrov Khachatryan.
Today they received an answer to their letter promising to tax all cabman without exception.
