Teachers of school N23 of Gyumri and parents came to Yerevan today to join the number of protesters "hosted" by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan on the ensuing government session day. The school is on the brink of disbandment because, according to demonstrators, the building belongs to Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the latter demands that the teachers free the premises.

"We can do the same-go to Tula, Novosibirsk and tell the Russians to give it to us because we built that. Can they do such a thing? Where is a written document stating that the building belongs to Russia? That's another side of the story," said the protesters.

Teacher Hasmik Kharatyan told "" that 77 teachers would remain unemployed as a result of the disbandment.

"They say they will accommodate, but those are mere lies. All principals have their educators and it turns out that the government is filling in the gap of its budget by dismissing 77 teachers so they won't receive salaries," said Kharatyan.

One of the parents said it was difficult for her to take her child to another school due to financial and other reasons. "You know there are not many employees in Gyumri and I am one of them. I have two children and I will need at least 15,000-20,000 drams to transfer them to another school."

The protesters were received by Head of the Department of Receptions and Appeals at the RA Government Alexander Ghazaryan. The teachers got emotional as they raised their issues and even asked Ghazaryan how they could live with 60,000 drams a month. In response, Alexander Ghazaryan told them to raise the issue in front of the prime minister.

As every Thursday, the residents of the sale zone had gathered near the government building with the demand for fair compensation in exchange for property.

The parents of soldiers who died in peaceful conditions were also there with photos of their sons with the demand to penalize the real culprits, as well as the depositors who had deposited money at "Armenia" bank and wanted their money back.
