Ashotyan promises to tackle the issue
Armenia's Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan says the Ministry encounters serious problems in special schools.
Commenting on a court verdict sentencing the teacher of Nubarshen special school charged with lecherous acts to two years' imprisonment, Mr. Ashotyan said, "I am glad that justice was realized."
Asked why the principal of Nubarshen school Merujan Yengibaryan accused of severe treatment to pupils was not brought to justice, the Minister said, "I am not familiarized with the case material but I assure you that in the nearest future we shall carry out staff changes. Everything will be done within the realm of law. I cannot fire a person without serious reasons."
The Minister promised to hold a thorough discussion on the school case and asked everyone possessing information about the principal's behaviour, to contact the ministry.
