Waiting for a response for years
The families of dead soldiers gathered near the government building today.
The son of Gohar Sargsyan and Suren Ohanjanyan died at Kartchaghpyur military unit in 2001. According to an official version, he died from electrocution. The parents said the trial was fair and that the Appeals Court, the Cassation Court and the first instance court confirmed that there was no electrocution. According to the victim's parents, the case has been sent to the prosecutor's office again, but the Investigative Department doesn't want to continue the preliminary inquiry.
"The Investigative Department of the Ministry of Defense, the Military Prosecutor's Office and Aghvan Hovsepyan's staff want to do everything possible to cover the case headed by Prosecutor of Sevan's garrison Gevorg Hambardzumyan who was Aghvan Hovsepyan's fellow classmate," they said.
Anahit Mkrtchyan, mother of dead soldier Arayik Avetisyan, has been complaining for the past 9 months. Her son was shot on October 30, 2001 and according to an official version, Arayik was murdered in the office of the head of the battalion and the case was terminated in 2009 with the pretext that the murderer was unknown.
"However, I have collected data that the murder was intentionally committed by the battalion's commander," says the victim's mother.
