Residents of buildings 5a, 5, 17/1 and 3 gathered near the municipality to hold a protest with the demand to not demolish the small park of the patio where it is foreseen to build a multi-story building.

"We have preserved that park since the 1990s. Besides that, a multi-story building is dangerous for nearby buildings," says resident of building #3 on Komitas Street Lyuda Bokhosyan.

The residents have sent their appeal to the municipality, the president, the president's apparatus, the Ministers of Health, Nature Protection and Urbanization, the Ombudsman and some political parties, including "Heritage" and "Country of Law".

"Today we received a notice from the president's apparatus that we may receive a response from the municipality, but we haven't received any other notice," says resident of building #5 on Komitas Street Gohar Sahakyan.

"The entire city is full of elite buildings, but there are no residents. Why are they building? It is unacceptable to build a building at a distance of 15 meters. I live on the 2nd floor and there will no longer be any penetration of light from the window," says resident of building #5 of Komitas Street, Susanna.

Ninety-year old participant of the Great Patriotic War Rafayel Yerznkyan had also come to fight for the park in the patio.

In the end, chief architect of Yerevan Samvel Danielyan met with two residents and said that construction will not continue until the issue is discussed with residents of nearby buildings. He promised the residents that all norms will be reconsidered and that there will be no construction for now.
