Will RAFs go out of use?
Most Yerevan passengers are on the alert for some calamity in minibuses, especially when they take a broken-down vehicle.
Yerevan citizen Susanna Martirosyan recalls how fell and hurt her arm after sitting on a broken seat in a minibus.
"Mostly, I take buses as I do not feel comfortable in minibuses. Besides, I am sure that buses are safer," Alvard Mkhitaryan said.
Drivers, for their turn, refrained from speaking on the matter. However, almost all our respondents said that the vehicle is in a good state if it has passed an engineering inspection. Drivers complained of high taxes saying they could not have their cars repaired in due time
"This is my car. I hardly manage to keep my family and solve some pressing issues with the money I earn," said a driver of RAF minibus who did not want to introduce himself.
"Control stations are to examine the state of minibuses. Of course, we want our vehicles to resemble those in civilized countries but it is still impossible in Armenia," said Arman Miridjanyan, Director of Yerevan Trans Company.
According to him, soon all "RAF" vehicles will go out of use.
