Turkey's prime minister has been ranked the 5th in a "world leaders" list prepared by a renowned British magazine.

The "Monocle" magazine, which is a global briefing covering international affairs, business, culture and design, has issued an article titled "Did They Do Well?" in its September issue, which assessed the popularity and performance of 15 world leaders.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was at the 5th place in Monocle's list, which was topped by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, followed by U.S. President Barack Obama, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Commenting on Erdogan's activities on economy, the magazine said Turkey's economy was currently in a very good state as GDP growth in 2010 was projected at 6.8 percent, adding unemployment was still high in the country.

Describing Erdogan as a popular leader in his country, Monocle said conservative people saw him as a hero, while liberals respected his EU-inspired reforms.

Also commenting on whether Erdogan was a good leader in respect to Turkey's position in the international arena, the magazine said Erdogan was trying to turn Turkey into a global power, adding it remained to be seen whether or not his activities would be lasting.
