Statement of "GALA" Television
"During the opening ceremony of the new cultural home in Artik of Shirak province, the members of the group accompanying RA Prime Minister impeded the activities of "GALA" Television, broke the microphone and the tripod, causing moral and material damage.
First, they showed a negative attitude toward employees of "GALA" Television and set limits on journalists and the cameramen. After the incident, the Prime Minister's press correspondent verbally apologized to one of our journalists, saying that what happened was by accident. But the clear analysis of the incident shows that it was on purpose. In his turn, the Prime Minister who speaks of democracy and free speech on television and at different podiums refused to answer one of our journalists' question on construction of apartment buildings in Gyumri-an answer which thousands of residents of Gyumri are waiting for.
"GALA" Television announces that it condemns any attempt to show disrespect toward journalists and is ready to prevent such steps regardless of official position or physical and mental capabilities," as stated in the statement.
