Starting October 1, the UN World Food Program is planning to provide food to 11,800 children of Tavush and Gegharkunik provinces.

The food will be provided to 1st-8th grade students. As Regional Director of the WFP in the Middle East, Central Asia and Eastern Europe Dali Belgasmi stated, the organization will take into account the children's preferences.

In the beginning, the schools will prepare soup for the students.

According to Dali Belgasmi, the program's donator Russia has already transferred 8 million dollars to Armenia and the Israeli government is also providing assistance.

Within the framework of the Millennium Challenges Program, the Armenian government has asked the WFP to show support, especially within the framework of the school food program.

According to Dali Belgasmi, food prices have gone up from 15 to 40% due to the crisis and that has a negative impact.

"People are buying less food for the same price now," said Belgasmi.
