Armenia's Agriculture Ministry forecasts the 2010 grape harvest at 250 000 tons, a huge increase from last year's 128 tons, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Samvel Avetisyan told A1+.

"Grape procurement causes great stress among rural residents as the consequences of the global economic crisis are not fully recovered," he noted.

Mr. Avetisyan says the Ministry has negotiated with all procurement organizations separately about the price and other details."

By agreement, the purchase price for grape is AMD 120 for kilo. Yerevan Brandy Company has agreed to buy grape from Armavir and Ararat regions at AMD 130, and from Tavush at AMD 120.

The Deputy Minister hopes that procurement will proceed on schedule.
