Ashot Melikyan refuses to be involved in working group
No case of violence against journalists was reported in Armenia between July and September, 2010, says Ashot Melikyan, head of the committee on freedom of speech and journalists' rights.
This is an unprecedented phenomenon for Armenia.
People's right to get and disseminate information was less violated during the reporting period.
Melikyan also said the committee will not participate in the activities of the working group to deal with the law on TV and Radio, as the group will "just pretend working."
Speaking about a tender for broadcasting frequencies to be held in Armenia in December, Mr. Melikyan said, "The RA National Committee of Television and Radio should pay attention to a number of vital issues, among them television product, language, experience and skills of the staff. The NCTR should be impartial, unbiased and fair in its decisions."
