It’s problematic
"The Armenian authorities tricked Armenian society," announce participants of the "We are against the reopening of foreign language schools" social movement.
On September 27, NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan had announced that the National Assembly would remove the norm for foreign language instruction in the law on "Language" and would solve the issue only by the law on "Public Education". Despite that, during an October 20 session, the corresponding NA committee introduced the modified draft law on "Language" with a positive conclusion during the four-day NA session.
"It is hard to imagine a more illegitimate law or program than this. This is just one lever for the current authorities' illegitimate steps. If the government officials were rational, they would reject the draft law from the start. But they went ahead and made it problematic," said member of the movement Edgar Arakelyan.
According to the movement representatives, either there should be foreign language schools or even if they do exist, there shouldn't be any limit on the number of schools.
The members of the movement will continue the struggle against the opening of the foreign language schools and are sure that they will achieve their goal.
