Azeri and Turkish films disgracefully distort facts
Tekeyan Cultural Center today hosted screening of Turkish and Azerbaijani films. The event was organised by Zharang (Heir) Cultural NGO.
"The films distort the historic facts and present Armenians as nomadic people. Armenians in Turkish and Azerbaijani films are presented as bloodthirsty beasts. Armenian youth should know how they are perceived in the neighbouring countries," founding member of Zharang NGO Karine Vrtanesyan told reporters.
In one of the Azerbaijani films - "Armenian Plagiarism" - an Armenian singer goes to a priest to confess that she has stolen an Azeri song. The authors of the film are unknown.
One of the Turkish full-length films - "One Hundred and Twenty" - was shot by the order of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The film presents the Armenian massacres of 1915 as a war unleashed by Armenia.
Two short and full-length films and a cartoon were showed today.
The films are available on the Internet.
