No expectations from the new mayor and minister
The already former residents of Buzand Street evicted from their homes for supreme public interest 7 years ago still don't have hope that the new mayor will change anything.
The residents, as well as the parents of soldiers who died in different RA military units under unknown circumstances and the depositors of "Armenia" bank gathered near the government building today with the demand for justice.
Tomorrow the Council of Elders of Yerevan will elect a new mayor, but the citizens evicted from their homes in central Yerevan say only change of power can reinstate law and justice in the country.
Former resident of Buzand Street Knarik Arakelyan told "A1+" that the residents have no expectations from the new mayor. "He will be the same as Yervand Zakharyan and Gagik Beglaryan. They have not passed any law in favor of the people all this time. We don't expect anything from anybody until change of power."
The former residents of Buzand Street have also appealed to the Public Council for revision of their eviction contracts, but they haven't received a response for the past three months now.
The parents of soldiers killed in different military units don't really have any expectations from the justice minister to be appointed. Anahit Mkrtchyan, mother of deceased soldier Arayik Avetisyan, has been seeking justice for the past 9 years and wants to know the reason for her son's death, but... "Two Justice Ministers have changed. I have appealed twice and the response has been the same in both cases-the Ministry of Justice doesn't interfere in the court's business and the implementation of a preliminary investigation. In that case, what is the Ministry of Justice doing?"
The protesters say the reinstatement of law and justice will be possible if a legal evaluation is given to a criminal act. According to them, only in that case will they stop their actions and rely on the force of law.
