12 cases of botulism reported in Armenia
During the New Year celebrations, it is necessary to preserve food-handling rules in order not to spoil the festival mood.
Margarita Babayan, Head of Food Safety Division, State Hygienic and Anti-Epidemiological Inspectorate of the RA Ministry of Health, says citizens should always check the expiration date before buying products.
People should also preserve the rules of food hygiene.
"Fruits and vegetables should be washed in clean water. The dishes remaining for 2-3 days should be well boiled and not heated," Margarita Babayan told A1+.
People should not mix different meals [for example canned food, mushrooms and lamb] to avoid disorders of digestive tract.
It is advisable to avoid eating canned products or boil them for 20-25 minutes before eating.
Twelve cases of botulism have been reported in Armenia.
