No more lines
Pensioner Anahit Petrosyan has been receiving her pension from the bank for the past 20 years, but she doesn't like to leave a "tip" for the mailman.
"True, it's not a lot of money, but I leave the money that I had to give to the mailman in the bank," said Anahit, 75.
Whereas not many people knew about this for the past 20 years, today all pensioners know that they have a chance to either receive their pensions at "HayPost" divisions and banks, as well as from ATMs. Like before, mailman can take the money to the pensioner's house, but there won't be any money taken out.
"We're happy that money will not be kept anymore," said a 69-year old lady waiting in line for her pension at the "HayPost" central division. There were practically no lines today.
Today RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artur Grigoryan gave clarifications regarding the regulation of lines for Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan during today's government session.
Grigoryan mentioned that unlike the previous month, this month's payments started on February 2 and nearly 1 billion drams was paid yesterday alone, making up nearly 25 percent of the pensioners in Yerevan. The Minister also mentioned that this new format has given the opportunity to distribute pensions more effectively.
Before February 5, pensioners can receive their pensions from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
