Snow thawing is more saddening

Social

The thawing snow causes problems for many citizens of Kapan. The residents of building N 1 in Halidzor district need an umbrella in their homes, while 4 families living on the 9th floor of the building literally don't see any sun.

They wake up in the morning with their shoes wet, the ceiling partially falls on their heads and even the patches don't help anymore.

There are always moldy walls and the smell of humidity during all seasons. "The humidity causes power outages and the gas tubes are on the verge of explosion," say residents.

The roofs of over 700 multi-story buildings in Kapan are on the verge of collapse. Some of them have been renovated throughout the years, while the others get worse day after day.

This year, 50 million drams from the state budget and 12 million from the local budget have been allocated for renovating the roofs.

The representatives of the urbanization department of the Municipality of Kapan say it is still unclear as to which roofs need to be renovated.

The regional council will complete the renovation with sums from the budget and the list of buildings which need to be renovated first will be presented to the Syunik regional council.

The residents of building N 1 in Halidzor district hope that their building will finally be on the list.
