No egg deficit expected in Armenia
Prices of egg will not go up in Armenia on the eve of Easter, RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan told a press conference on February.
"There will be no shortage of eggs. We have already stored 10 million eggs and intend to store another 10 million before Easter," said the Minister.
Six big and ten small companies are currently engaged in egg production in Armenia. Those companies, according to the minister, give 800,000 eggs daily, and 80% of their production is consumed in the domestic market.
Speaking about the unprecedented rise in flour prices, the Minister said that the government can meet only 30% of the demand.
According to Mr. Karapetyan, the prices of flour and wheat are much cheaper in Armenia than in wheat exporting countries.
