On April 24 at 16:30, a requiem for the martyrs of the 1915 Armenian Genocide was held under the direction of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians near the Cross-stone of Prayers and Vows placed next to the Mother Temple in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The ceremony was followed by the "Christ Rose from the Dead" tiding. Attending the ceremony were clergymen and many pious citizens.

This monument is the first one dedicated to Armenian martyrs at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. It was built in 1965 under the initiative of the late Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The monument also serves as a symbolic cemetery for victims of the Armenian Genocide. In November 1965, the tombs of martyrs were brought from Der Zor and buried beneath the Cross-stone of Prayers and Vows, reported the information office of the Mother See.
