The people coming to Tsitsernakaberd today stopped near the Armenian-Japanese friendship monument, bowed silently, laid flowers and left inscriptions.

By the initiative of the International Cultural Bank and with support from the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, the Armenian-Japanese friendship monument was placed at the peak of Tsitsernakaberd with the purpose of expressing support to the Japanese.

Program Director of the Cultural Bank Levon Ivanyan views the expression of support to thousands of Japanese who suffered in the March 11 earthquake as a moral act.

People also made donations in the box near the monument to make a small contribution to eliminating the effects of the earthquake.

Head of the Public Relations Department at the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations Nikolay Grigoryan told "A1+" that people who have experienced losses and genocide are more aware of other people's pain. He added that the country that has been showing support to different nations in disaster is now in a disaster itself.
