It is already the second year, the Yerevan-based Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) recycles the flowers left at the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial during the April 24 symbolic march.

On April 28, Tsitsernakaberd was overcrowded with scores of young people who were sorting the flowers and disconnecting the stems and petals. The stems will later be used as fertilizer for the memorial gardens while the dried flower petals will be recycled into paper and hand-made greeting cards.
FPWC Director Ruben Khachatryan says the campaign aims to remind people of the unfinished tragedy of the genocide.

"The campaign also pursues another aim: the process of flower recycling resembles a thread that continues the reflections and experiences of people who laid the flowers at the memorial complex," said Khachatryan.
