There were more people than usual near the government building today.

The residents of homes 4/14-4/24 of Amiryan Street came
out to the street to protest for the first time. They say they wouldn't have taken this step if they had not had enough.

Six years ago, the government acknowledged their territories as an alienation zone. The municipality of Yerevan assured them that construction would end within 30 months and that the residents would receive apartments and offices in the new buildings.

However, owner of the construction firm, MP Melik Gasparyan died last year and now the residents don't know who they can go to with the demand for their apartments. Resident Vachagan Tadevosyan says they have instigated a case, but there is still no result. None of the corresponding state bodies takes responsibility and the issue remains unsolved. Their only hope is the RA Government.

Former street traders also came to the government with that hope. They are sure that even though the mayor of Yerevan has set a ban on street trade, there will be someone who will care and provide them with jobs.
The traders don't want to work at the markets because, in their words, they are not merchants and are simply earning a living. What motivates them is the fact that some MPs often raise their issue.

During today's government session, the RA Minister of Economy presented the NA "Heritage" faction MPs' demand to let street traders start working again, but that was rejected. Let us mention that the government also rejected the same demand presented by independent MP Victor Dallakyan during its previous session.

The parents of soldiers who died in unknown circumstances at different Armenian military units were also near the government building. They continue to demand a just investigation into the murders of their sons. In April, they met with Military Prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan and hope that work will resume soon.
