E. coli continues to shake Europe
Though German scientists have found the source of E. coli [Escherichia coli] outbreak, the number of victims is still bothersome. Four more people died in Germany at the weekend, bringing the total number of deaths to 35, Germany's Zeit newspaper reported.
On Saturday, Germany confirmed that locally produced bean sprouts were, as suspected, the source of the deadly E. coli outbreak. The number of people infected with E. coli already totals 4 000. According to local media, over 100 E.coli patients need kidney transplants.
Children are more likely than adults to develop symptoms of E. coli infection. Most people with the infection have severe stomach cramps and stomach tenderness, diarrhea, watery at first, but often becoming very bloody, a high fever, nausea and vomiting.
