YSU will soon digitize all library books.

As Head of the YSU Department of Virtual Armenology and Information Mher Hovhannisyan told "A1+", Armenological studies will be digitized and online materials will be archived.

There are already 55 books, 25 articles, 104 maps, as well as collections of archival documents on the YSU Armenological Research Institute's website at ww.armin.am.

The YSU Virtual Library will be mostly accessible to students through local networks connected to the university, but there will also be website databases for everyone.

"One of our objectives is to have books for everyone on the Internet. Nobody will pay for an Armenological book. All books should be free to satisfy people's interests. Azerbaijan disseminates anti-Armenian books on the Internet, and Armenia must go against that," says Head of the Virtual Armenology and Information Department, Mher Hovhannisyan.

As a historian, Mher Hovhannisyan sees that Turkey and Azerbaijan are seriously active in their Internet policy. According to him, their cases and events can be quickly denied. Mr. Hovhannisyan says they are trying to corroborate their efforts through various international research organizations.

"For instance, they provide links to those organizations in their articles posted on Wikipedia. We must also engage not only local, but foreign researchers as well and for that we need government support."

Acting YSU Rector Aram Simonyan attached importance to www.armin.am in scientific and political terms.

"The website is aimed against anti-Armenian propaganda. We decided to have a website that would work actively against the Azerbaijani websites. This is a very difficult task and requires a lot of effort," said Aram Simonyan.
