Catholicos conveys greetings to Pope of Rome
His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, President of the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church and the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi. Accompanying Ravasi was Nuncio to the Transcaucasus, Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti.
During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians touched upon the close, warm relations and cooperation established between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Vatican and underlined that such mutual visits strengthen relations between both Churches. His Holiness wished Cardinal Ravasi success in Armenia, expressing confidence that his visit would help establish a new kind of cooperation with the RA Ministry of Culture and would lead to the implementation of various joint projects.
In his turn, the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture attached importance to his visit to Armenia, which began with a reception by the Catholicos of All Armenians.
During the conversation, the Catholicos of All Armenians and Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi also touched upon different challenges facing both Churches. His Holiness conveyed his love and greetings to the Pope of Rome Benedict XVI via the Cardinal.
