Yerevan Press Club turns 16

On July 18, Yerevan Press Club (YPC) celebrated its 18th anniversary. Along with the jubilee, the YPC handed over its annual awards to the best journalists, media and media organizations of Armenia.

This year's awardees are:

Anna Israelyan, commentator of "Aravot" daily - for a series of articles covering a tender for television frequencies.

Margarit Yesayan, commentator of "Aravot" daily - for the return of Rafael Bazikyan's literary heritage to the public.

"Shoghakat" TV Company -for the program "Third Millennium"

Blogger Arthur Papyan, editor of Azatutyun (Liberty) radio station -for his efforts to develop alternative journalism.

 

YPC Chairman Boris Navasardyan said in his speech that great changes have been observed in the information sphere over the past 16 years.

"Sixteen years ago I could not imagine that we might ever have a nomination called alternative journalism. The Internet has become a part of journalism today," he said.

The award was established and conferred since 1998.
