A1+’s reader gives helping hand to freedom fighter
"You say you are married and have four minor children?" Karabakh war participant Hakob Tadevosyan was asked the question by a Defense Ministry employee who had earlier received a few inquiries by Hakob about the housing waiting list.
In 2006, Tadevosyan applied to the Ministry to receive a flat and has been registered in the ministry ever since.
The disabled freedom fighter says the ministry official asked him in bewilderment why he had formed a family if he did not have an abode.
On July 13, Hakob Tadevosyan started a protest outside the Defense Ministry with his wife and four minor children. The ministry officials advised the homeless and desperate father to wait for a while.
"I went into the MoD building with my family but they told me that it was not a kindergarten and they had no time to play with me. I was advised to wait for my turn," Tadevosyan told A1+.
The disabled freedom fighter is unemployed and feeds the family with his small pension.
"I am ready to leave the country and resettle somewhere else. Several freedom fighters have already quitted the country in search of better living conditions and treatment," said Tadevosyan.
The father of four minor children came to A1+'s editorial office to receive the money sent by a reader.
While Armenian authorities turned a blind eye to Tadevosyan's demand, a Swiss-based Armenian, who wished to remain anonymous, stretched out a helping hand to his family sending them 120 euros. Tadevosyan says he will rent an apartment with the money for a couple of months.
