Skype replacing telephone
It is already two years 84-year-old Mariam Galstyan has been communicating with her relatives in Russia with Skype.
"It was my eldest grandson who gave me computer lessons. Today I master all effects of the program. I can change my image on the screen and amuse my grandchildren," said Mrs. Galstyan.
She says Skype is the most accessible means of communication which enables her to see and hear her interlocutor at the same time.
Skype turned 8 on August 31, 2011. The number of Skype users exceeds 500 million in the world. In 2010, the service's profit amounted to $324 million. In 2011, Microsoft bought Skype for $8.5 billion, in an all-cash deal.
The service turns out to be of high demand in Armenia.
"We sell about 30 cameras and loudspeakers every month," said Nver adding that their customers are both from the capital and marzes.
