A group of environmentalists gathered near the RA Government building with the demand to stop the change of the flow of Chichkhan River where Trchkan Waterfall is located.

Trchkan Waterall, which is the site most worth seeing in the Great Parni village of Lori province, might cease to exist due to the Armenian government's decision to build a Hydroelectric Station at Chichkhan River. Environmentalists view that decision as a violation of the eco-system in that territory.

Action participant Apres Zohrabyan told "A1+" that the environmentalists have appealed to the Ministry of Nature Protection and the group of inspectors was supposed to study the issue, but there hasn't been any response to this day.

"Trchkan Waterfall is a natural monument and must be preserved. The government can receive much more profit from this waterfall by using it as a zone for tourism," Apres Zohrabyan said. He mentioned that the government decided to eliminate the waterfall without informing the environmentalists and public discourse.

Resident of Great Parni village Daniel Arshakuni had also joined the participants of the action. He mentioned that he had received information about the construction of a Hydro-electric Station at Chichkhan from village head Hrair Yaghubyan and had found out that there was already an agreement with the construction firm. The village head told residents that the waterfall was going to be open only in the summer. "I don't believe that. They will let residents visit the waterfall for two years, and then we'll all forget about it," Great Parni village resident expressed concern.

"Like the Shakeh Waterfall, this waterfall will also start working with a remote control and we won't allow that this time," action participant Gor Hovhannisyan said and addressed the Ministry of Nature Protection, saying that "if you destroy Trchkan Waterfall, I promise to destroy the ministry".
