Traffic jams labeled as ‘slowdowns’
Every morning suburban commuters hurrying to the central Yerevan undergo stress as they are 30-40 minutes late for work or studies.
It is already a month Yerevan's Myasnikyan Avenue, that connects Avan district with the capital centre, is clogged with cars. Car accidents have become a common phenomenon on the avenue.
Mushegh Kroyan, Assistant to the Head of Public Relations Department of the Armenian Police, explains it with the abundance of vehicles which results in constant traffic jams and ‘slowdowns.'
Traffic jams or ‘slowdowns,' as the police official called them, are mostly formed between 9 and 10 which the busiest hour of the day when people hurry to work or universities.
