Two persons remain missing in landslide area
Search and rescue work continues in the landslide-stricken area in Armenia's Tavush marz. Rescuers from different marzes resumed their work early in the morning. A small tent town has formed in the landslide area for rescuers and volunteers who continue search work.
Three bodies were found earlier in the week in the area. There is still no information about Georgian citizens Gurgen Hakobyan and his son, Artur Hakobyan.
A landslide hit the 86th km of Vanadzor-Bagratashen highway, near Ayrum station at 7:03 p.m., October 2. Thirty-five cars were reportedly left under rock, gravel and mud. The 130-meter-long and 60-meter-deep terrain covered the road, rendering it completely impassable and trapping 35 vehicles.
Five people were declared missing as a result of the natural disaster. After eight days of intense work, rescuers found on Monday the bodies of Armen and Mekhak Sorsumatyans in a Mercedes C car. The body of Norik Mirzoyan, a resident of Lchkadzor village, was found on Tuesday.
