Four tractors removed from landslide zone
At 2:30p.m. October 12, rescuers dragged out four tractors from a container that was trapped in a landslide-affected area in Armenia's Tavush region.
So far, 27 vehicles have been dug out from the site, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The rescue team working in the landslide-stricken area continues its search operation to find the other two missing persons.
A landslide hit the 86th km of Vanadzor-Bagratashen highway, near Ayrum station at 7:03 p.m., October 2. Thirty-five cars were reportedly left under rock, gravel and mud. The 130-meter-long and 60-meter-deep terrain covered the road, rendering it completely impassable and trapping 35 vehicles.
Five people were declared missing as a result of the natural disaster. After eight days of intense work, rescuers found on Monday the bodies of Armen and Mekhak Sorsumatyans in a Mercedes C car. The body of Norik Mirzoyan, a resident of Lchkadzor village, was found on Tuesday. There is still no information about Georgian citizens Gurgen Hakobyan and his son, Artur Hakobyan.
