Threatening or bribing the parents
Suicides can't take place every day in the army. They can take place either once or twice a year," says Hasmik Hovhannisyan, mother of deceased soldier Artak Nazaryan. According to an official version, her son committed suicide.
"If they label it suicide and don't instigate a case, that is not suicide," says Mrs. Hovhannisyan.
She and the parents of other murdered soldiers today gathered near the government building with the demand for justice.
However, the number of parents with deceased sons gathering at the government building is declining and most of them are "giving up" too early. According to Tigran Ohanjanyan's father Suren Ohanjanyan, the reason is because the army administration or the political elite threaten the parents and offer them money to keep silent and stop the struggle.
Joining the parents that have lost their sons today were parents that have sons who will be serving in the army in the future. Lara Aharonyan and her 7 month old son come to the government building every Thursday. She would like to see her son learn how to raise his voice against the injustice.
"When I think about it, I would also go crazy, if something like that happened to my son. I am simply amazed at the society's indifference," Lara Aharonyan mentioned with the hope that the people will be able to reach justice through struggle.
Members of 140 families living in the hostel N 127/1 of Nor Aresh district that is about to collapse also gathered in front of the government building today. According to Agnesa Hakhnazaryan, the newly built building located at 22 Sisakyan Street, which was supposed to be given to them, had been given to others.
The residents threaten to hold protests all day long.
