People could have been saved, if warned
"There was nothing dangerous in that area before the landslide," RA Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan told "A1+" today.
According to him, the government had not confirmed that area on its list of active zones.
A couple of days after the landslide, Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan had said that the ministry had informed the corresponding ministries, particularly the Ministry of Transport regarding the collapse that took place in the same place on September 29.
"We had sent the information to everyone. They had to draw conclusions. If the road is closed down, there has to be a transit road for loaded cars coming from Georgia and other countries," the minister had announced.
How did the landslide occur? The answer to that question will be clear after geologists conduct on-the-site studies and submit their conclusions.
Only after the geologists' studies will it be clear if the road has to be renovated or if a new road has to be built.
