Atomic station employees won't work
158 employees of the Metsamor atomic station will declare a worker's strike tomorrow. They had demanded a salary increase and had stated that they would file for resignation, if that demand was not met.
On-duty chief of the electric production unit of the atomic station Suren Margaryan told "A1+" that the station's director just recently called on them not to take extreme measures and continue working.
"The director said if we left, he would close the atomic station. But this is a big global issue," Suren Margaryan said.
The average salary at the atomic station is 210,000 drams, but the employees demand a 50 % increase because, according to them, they are not getting paid enough for their work.
"We can earn three times more than what we earn in Armenia. That is why the experts leave the country," the already former on-duty chief of the production unit said.
What the employees of the atomic station are amazed at is that the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources has never met them or tried to find solutions to the issue.
