158 employees of the Metsamor atomic station will go to work for the last time to receive their last paychecks.

Chief of Reactor Production Garegin Khangaldyan told "A1+" that the employees wouldn't agree to work for the money that they have been paid to this day.

"People probably think we shouldn't be complaining about receiving a 210,000 dram salary, but believe us, that is not the case," Garegin Khangaldyan said.

The employees had appealed to the Minister of Energy in March with the demand for a salary raise, but the ministry representatives told them that it was impossible.

We remind that the atomic station employees demand a 50% salary increase.

Leading engineer for the atomic station's chief management control Gagik Mkrtchyan says if the government made concessions and raised the salaries by at least 25 percent, they would continue working.

"The halt of the atomic station's production will lead to higher electricity prices since the atomic station is a source of cheap energy. In addition, Armenia will be under political pressure because many countries come to terms with Armenia. Armenia is part of the super powers of nuclear energy," Artur Mkrtchyan said.

Benjamin Kocharyan says it will take the government up to a year to find experienced workers after stopping production.

The employees have already filed appeals for resignation and say they are ready to leave Armenia and find jobs abroad. They are certain that they will definitely find jobs because they are experienced.

"Nobody appreciates our work in Armenia and they don't even try to keep us away from going to the extreme," Artur Mkrtchyan said.

Every year, the atomic station is renovated for 35-40 days. The atomic station will be re-exploited on October 27 and rumor has it that the exploitation will be postponed for a year.
