Libyan authorities confirm Gaddafi's death
Libyan authorities have shown Gaddafi's body on local TV channels to confirm the reports of his death.
Al Jazeera has broadcast exclusive footage, showing Gaddafi's lifeless body, thus finally dispelling all doubts over the dictator's death.
At the same time, journalists were shown the bodies of Gaddafi's son Moatassem Gaddafi and Defense Minister Abu-Bakr Yunis Jabr.
Gaddafi's younger son was not found among the killed, though he is also reported dead.
Muammar Gaddafi, who ruled Libya from 1969 until August this year, was killed Thursday by forces loyal to the country's new government. Gaddafi 69, was reportedly found hiding in a drain outside Sirte, where he and and others had taken shelter after their convoy was hit by a Nato airstrike as it attempted to escape. A spokesman for the National Tranisitional Council - Libya's ruling body - said Gaddafi was alive when captured but died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.
