Members of the "Let's Save Trchkan Waterfall" civil initiative say preventing today's protest from taking place was the meaning of the initiative members' statement on ending construction of a hydro-electric station near Trchkan Waterfall.

The members today organized a protest near the Ministry of Nature Protection and demanded that the license granted to Robshin Company for construction of a hydro-electric station be declared as invalid.

"The license was granted to this company with violations of the law. Our main goal is to consider all documents invalid and bring those who have given a positive conclusion on the construction of a hydro-electric station near the natural monument to justice," civil initiative member, lawyer Mary Khachatryan said.

Activist Hasmik Vardanyan says if they stop the struggle, construction will restart.

"Construction has factually stopped. Some technical equipment has been removed from our camp and the rest is said to be removed, but we need legal warrants," Hasmik Vardanyan mentioned.

No ministry official has responded to the protest organized by the members of the "Let's Save Trchkan Waterfall" civil initiative. Next week, the National Assembly will hold parliamentary hearings on the protection of Trchkan Waterfall.
